JOB TITLE: Employee Relations Specialist

 

DEPARTMENT: Human Resources Department

 

EMPLOYMENT TYPE: Permanent

 

LOCATION: Montego Bay, Jamaica

 

1. JOB SUMMARY

 

The position is responsible for guiding and managing the daily provision of Human Resources services, policies, and programs for the company. The major areas managed are:

 

In this role, you would be responsible for designing, implementing, and developing the IER strategy, plans, programs, and initiatives that are aligned with and achieve the Company’s business objectives. You would develop and maintain positive relationships between employees, management, and labor unions, ensure compliance with labor laws, and manage all employee grievances, disputes, and complaints. You would also execute Continuum’s agenda in the areas of Culture, Employee Engagement, Diversity & Inclusion.

 

 

2. PRIMARY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

 

1. Strong knowledge of Jamaican labor laws and regulations/Extensive knowledge of workplace legislation (Labour Relations Code, Labour Relations and Industrial Disputes Act, etc), and leading labour law and human rights decisions

 

2. Function as a strategic Business Partner and advisor to Operations regarding key operational, organizational, and employee issues.

 

3. Ability to effectively communicate and support the company’s mission, vision, and company culture.

 

4. Strong knowledge of employee engagement strategies and diversity and inclusion practices.

 

5. Familiarity with HR systems and tools for employee feedback and engagement.

 

6. Excellent communication, negotiation skills, and ability to exercise good judgment.

 

7. Strong conflict management skills

 

8. Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.

 

9. Excellent leadership and interpersonal skills

 

10. Extensive knowledge of Human Resources Management & Development trends and measurement.

 

11. Thorough knowledge of grievance and arbitration processes and other dispute resolution mechanisms.

 

12. Considerable knowledge of job evaluation, wage and salary administration, including thorough knowledge of legislation, regulations, and contract provisions relating to these subjects.

 

13. Develop strategies and programs to encourage good Labour Relations and foster a harmonious Industrial Relations climate.

 

14. Proficiency in the use of computer software applications including Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

 

15. Overseeing functions including employee onboarding, orientation, benefits administration, policies and procedures.
